На протяжении последних лет в американской речи стало популярным выражение "I am good” (а также "We are good”). В словари, учебники и разговорники это выражение пока не вошло. Речь не идёт, конечно, о том, что кто-то считает себя хорошим или добрым. В большинстве контекстов говорящий хочет сказать, что ему комфортно и удобно.
Некоторые лингвисты считают новое выражение ненужным и не очень грамотным просторечием: зачем так говорить, если ту же мысль можно выразить хорошо знакомой нам фразой "I am fine”!? Однако дело в том, что выражение "I am good” имеет и дополнительный оттенок значения. Говоря так, человек хочет подчеркнуть, что он не нуждается в посторонней помощи, излишнем беспокойстве и внимании. Фраза употребляется преимущественно в первом лице, хотя можно представить себе и ситуации, когда она может быть построена с тем же смыслом также во втором или третьем лице. (Д. Ермолович)
